Although this matter was originally a federal investigation, after presentations to downplay the Client's understanding, and to emphasize the smaller amounts compared to other cases, the case was not prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's Office. Generally, federal prosecutions are more likely to result in harsher sentences upon conviction. Rather, the case was prosecuted in Texas state court, where the Client received a deferred adjudication sentence (probation which will result in a dismissal when the Client successfully completes the probation).
